Our 2012 overseas challenge sent 20 brave participants to complete a life changing cycle challenge across Cuba and they raised a staggering £113,000 which has made a huge difference to our hospice.
On Saturday 15th November 2014 we again hope to send a group of people from all walks of life to Vietnam and Cambodia to do a Charity Cycle Ride in Aid of our hospice here in Liverpool. We currently need to raise £130,000 every month just to keep the doors open and the care provided to our children is second to none. The bike ride will be a great way to raise funds for Zoë's and will also be a real personal challenge.
WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO?
You will have to buy a bike to train on if you haven’t already got one but we will provide you with a bike when you get over there. This challenge is not easy. You will cycle an average of 50 miles per day over a five day period on mountain bikes over some rugged terrain. You will have to train for months and be really focused, it’s not just a holiday. We are also asking each participant to try and raise a minimum sponsorship of £3,200 but dont worry, you will have plenty of time and we will be on hand to help support your fundraising every step of the way!
HOW LONG AM I AWAY FOR?
The trip is 10 days long but the actual cycling is condensed to 5 days. The rest of the time is for travel and also sightseeing. There is also an option to extend your stay just for ‘holiday time’ if you wish.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR ME?
Because the trip is some time away it will give you a real opportunity to get yourself fit. You will also have some great fun in getting your sponsorship money together whether it’s putting on a Karaoke night or sitting in a bath of baked beans. Between now and November 2014 you will always have the trip in the back of your mind. It’s hard work raising the money and even harder work getting to the level of fitness
The event is run by Classic Tours who have years of expertise in this field and provide full support with tour guides, medics, cycle mechanics etc. They also know how to party at the end of it! required but you WILL find that you will come out of it as a better person. This really can be a life changing experience for you!
THE LOCATION
Our challenge takes us through two of South East Asia’s most fascinating countries which have only opened up to foreign travellers in recent years. Starting in Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and finishing at Angkor Wat in Cambodia, we’ll experience breathtaking scenery, timeless traditions, ancient temples and the warmth of the local people.
OK, I’M UP FOR IT.... WHAT DO I DO NOW?
The first thing you will need to do is complete and return the registration forms so that we are able to allocate you a place on the trip and pay a £400 non refundable registration fee. We will then help to support you to raise a further £2,800 for our Hospice before the trip in November 2014.
There is no upper limit on what you can raise… keep going!
