CASSANDRA LEARNING CENTRE

Cassandra Learning Centre is a long established community organisation that has dual registration as a charity and as a company limited by guarantee. The overall aim is to deliver an effective support services to young people (males/females) and their families on a national scale. Our goal is to educate, Prevent and change behaviour.

Our area of expertise is around domestic abuse, Sexual Exploitation and working gangs or with Serious Group Offenders.

Young girls who find themselves victims of abuse or being sexually exploited are often affiliated to gangs members and youth violence.  Individuals can find themselves as perpetrators or as victims of abuse that can lead to isolation, physical and mental health issues.

There is serious concern about the increasing number of young women who are involved in street violence and gang related offending.  A recent report published by Race On The Agenda (ROTA) found that there is very little support which is targeted at women involved in gangs, with any female-specific services usually the initiative of individuals rather than planning or policy.  The research highlights the lack of appropriate services available to those females caught up in gangs, the use of sexual violence by gang members and the impact of serious violence on their sexual and mental health.

From our observation, national organisations are failing to deal with the root cause of youth violence. Sadly there is a lack of support for the most vulnerable young people, and often they are marginalised by the very community they belonged making them feel less important in society.

In our effort to address the complexity of these issues CLC has developed a range of programmes that is aimed to address behaviour and offer group or one to one support. These programmes can be used as a form so sentencing by the Criminal Courts.  Our programmes are up to 12 weeks followed by one to one support depending on needs.

Our staffs are highly skilled and from varied background each sharing their skills and experiences in order for the charity to develop to its full capacity. We have a proven record of the frontline work that has been delivered to schools Colleges and within communities.

Cassandra Learning Centre is best placed to work with young people given the history of the charity, we are very committed and “if we can save one young person’s life, we would have saved the world”.
