East Hampshire Advocacy Scheme

We are a small but long-established independent advocacy scheme working in the East Hampshire area (as defined by the District Council boundaries). We support adults (over 18s) with a learning disability; older people and anyone else living in the local area who needs a helping hand and someone to support them.

Advocacy offers someone who can work closely with the person to esnure that they have a voice as decisions are made that affect their lives. We can help with a variety of things; filling out forms; going to benefits tribunals; helping to write letters; going to meetings with people. The list is endless and the type of work we do varies with each individual who comes to us to ask us for help.

We have a small staff team and a dedicated team of volunteers who offer their time for free. We are experts only in what we have experience of, but across the whole team we bring a lot of experience to the table and we also have extensive links into local agencies including the housing teams, Adult Services, etc. We do, however, remain totally independent and the needs of the individual we are supporting are paramount.

We make it easy to refer to us and this can be done by phone or email (please note we are an outreach service and the answerphone will quite often take the majority of calls if we are not in the office!) You can refer yourself or someone you know - simply make contact and we can assess whether we are the right organisation to help. We offer issue-based advocacy which targets specific issues and we are unable to offer ongoing long-term support.
